Teacher of the Month
Mr. Christopher Byers, the March teacher of the month, has been teaching for five years. Before Mr. Byers became a teacher, he was a mechanical engineer. Although he enjoyed the job, he did not enjoy sitting at a desk all day. Mr. Byers then decided to pursue a degree in Math Education and began to teach middle school and high school.
There was a part of Mr. Byers that always wanted to be a teacher. He first became interested in teaching through his high school job. Mr. Byers spent the summers teaching at a summer camp. Mr. Byers began teaching at Tucker in the 2019-2020 school year. Like many teachers, he did not expect the challenges that the year would bring. These challenges included virtual learning, online assignments, and the continuous challenge of keeping his student's attention. Despite the challenges, Mr. Byers enjoys interacting with his students daily and forming relationships with them. All his students enjoy the fun and creative atmosphere that is created in his room. His students are greeted daily by the two class dragons, Frank and Frankita.
In his free time, Mr. Byers enjoys making and eating food. He also enjoys spending time with his friends and family. He and his wife are parents of two daughters. Mr. Byers also enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and picnicking.
