Spring 2024 Events

by Tori Corbett

The start of spring marks testing season, college decisions, prom, and more – a stressful time, by all accounts. But the beginning of spring also brings new life into the world after winter, and better days are just around the corner. For example, spring has Earth Day, April Fool’s, and so much more. Here are some things to look forward to this spring and what you can do on those days.

Easter

Easter is not just for religious Christians; there are fun things for everyone to do to celebrate this holiday. You can dye eggs, go egg hunting, and make easter baskets, to name a few. These things are fun for all ages. If you’re not interested in doing those things yourself, you can volunteer at events in your community that are hosting events for kids.

April Fool’s Day

April Fool’s, always on the first day of April, is a day when people get a free pass to prank their friends and family. Here are two classic pranks you could try:

It’s not recommended to do this to unknown people because you never know their reaction, but you can still have fun with those you know. Stay vigilant so you won’t get pranked yourself!

Solar Eclipse

On Monday, April 8th, 2024, a solar eclipse will occur. A solar eclipse is when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun at a certain angle – one that blocks the sun from view on Earth. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon fully covers the sun and the sky darkens. This will happen in some states on April 8th. During the period of totality, Jupiter, Venus, and Comet Pons-Brooks will be visible. Sadly, totality will not be visible from Georgia, but we’ll still be able to witness a partial eclipse.

April also includes Earth Day, Autism Awareness Month, and much more. There are many volunteer opportunities available you can do to provide support for these events.
