Events around Tucker

10/3/22

Happy October, Tucker Tigers! Only eight months ‘til summer. But you don’t need unbearable heat to have fun; This month is jam packed with activities for you and your friends to enjoy, all the way up until Halloween.

Starting off strong, Taste of Tucker is a charity event for local restaurants to strut their stuff on our very own Main Street. If you can dream it, you can eat it, with selections ranging from hibachi to BBQ, burgers to pizza, and burritos to ice cream. If you can’t make Taste of Tucker (which has been rescheduled for October 15th due to weather concerns), no worries! Other food-focused activities this October include the Atlanta Kosher BBQ Festival (Brook Run Park, October 23rd 11am-3pm) and Atlanta African Restaurant Week Festival (Oct. 29 & 30 381 Edgewood Ave SE ATL). If what you’re really craving is music this spooky season, check out the 12th Annual Atlanta Hip Hop Day Festival, also on October first, at Woodruff Park 91 Peachtree Street.

Want to celebrate your identity? The Atlanta Pride Parade (October 9th, Piedmont Park) is a huge event you don’t want to miss! The Plaza at Colony Square is the best place to be on the first Monday of the month for Comedy night at 6pm-7pm, and the first Thursday of the month for a free outdoor movie starting at 6pm (this month, it’s Halloween Town!) We also have lots of cons coming to Atlanta this month, including Monsterama Con on the 8th, Atlanta Comic Convention on the 24th-26th, and Anime Weekend Atlanta on the 27th-30th.

Make sure to get into the Halloween spirit (no pun intended) with Georgia’s best haunted experiences! Netherworld runs most nights in the first two weeks of October, as well as every night after the 18th. Similarly, Six Flags’ Fright Fest opens on the 17th and runs through the 31st. Other haunted houses to watch out for this year are Containment Haunted House, Paranoia Haunted House, Folklore Haunted House, and Nightmare’s Gate Haunted House. Whether you’re one for tricks, or you prefer treats, there’s lots to enjoy!
