March TotM – Ms. Billings

Ms. Maria Billings has quickly found her place in the hearts of many students at Tucker High School. Although she has not been at Tucker for long, she is already greatly impacting her students. This is the first year Ms. Billings is teaching at Tucker High School, and though she is a relatively new teacher, her love for her students and her passion for guiding them on their individual journeys is evident through her enthusiasm and dedication.
Ms. Billings's dedication to her students goes far beyond the classroom. She works tirelessly to help her students reach their full potential. Ms. Billings constantly seeks out ways to improve her teaching and to find knowledge to bring back to her classroom for her students' benefit. Ms. Billings brings her creativity and innovation through her lessons, and strives to make her classroom a positive environment that fosters students’ growth.
As a child, Ms. Billings was a diligent and responsible student. When she was a senior in high school, she was nominated to be a mentor and to help tutor other students. It was also in high school that Ms. Billings began to develop a love for the social sciences. After high school, Ms. Billings worked as a part-time preschool teacher. Through this experience, she realized she enjoyed being a role model to others. Her teaching style is influenced by other teachers who profoundly affected her.
When she is not teaching, Ms. Billings enjoys baking, learning Korean, weightlifting, watching anime and movies, reading articles, playing games on Steam, and spending time with her two cats, Sam and Spooky. Ms. Billings is also passionate about environmental protection and equal rights. If she were not a teacher, Ms. Billings believes she would be training to become a lawyer.
Ms. Billings hopes that her students’ love for learning will intensify. She encourages them to seek the deeper meaning behind the everyday information they learn at school. Ms. Billings wants her students to think deeply about what they are learning and to ask complex questions. By cultivating curiosity, creativity, and intelligence she believes that her students can become the best versions of themselves.
Overall, Ms. Billings is a shining example of what it means to be an exceptional teacher. Her passion for teaching, her dedication to her students, and commitment to excellence make her stand out as a remarkable educator.
